Linda is collecting used
stamps to sell. All proceeds to Faraja Support. Your help would be appreciated.
Save all your used stamps
and when you have a significant amount, send/deliver them to Linda at
the address below. If delivering, please email/telephone to arrange a
time. (This is not necessary if your package of stamps is small enough
to fit through the letter box.) Stamps will be collected locally if there
is sufficient quantity to make it worthwhile.
Please leave approximately
1 cm of envelope bordering each stamp. Thank you.

We're back! Please let us know what you think of our new website - constructive
criticism is always welcome!
While we've been away, it's
all been happening (see below) - and there's much more to come. Watch
this space...
The 'Taking
Flight' Exhibition
Thank you to everyone who
visited the 'Taking Flight' exhibition - it was wonderful to meet so many
interesting people face to face. We raised over £100.00 for the
Children's Choice Campaign. Thank you especially to those of you who took
the time to let Morgan photograph you. The finished piece of art can be
see at our next exhibition, 'In Flight', which will take place at Kibworth
Grammar School, Kibworth Beauchamp, Leicestershire on Saturday 2 August
and Sunday 3 August. The exhibition will be open from 10.00 a.m.
to 4.00 p.m. on both days.
A special thank you to Julie Chapman from On the Edge Picture Framing
for all her hard work for the exhibition. We highly recommend her. She
can be contacted at: jules@ontheedge.co.uk
Morgan Gleave Art &
Design and Faraja Support
Due to the great success of the Children's Choice Campaign, the hospital
is taking responsibility for the service the fund was set up to provide'
and the campaign is being wound down. Therefore, Morgan Gleave Art &
Design is has adopted Faraja Support as its 'official charity'.
What is Faraja Support?
In short, Faraja Support is a charity working to care for and educate
children in Tanzania.
For further information,
visit www.farajasupport.org.uk
(after 8 June 2008) or email: helen@farajasupport.org.uk
At the time of writing, the charity is not registered. However, Charitable
Status has now been applied for, so watch this space...
Why Morgan Gleave Art & Design has chosen Faraja Support.
Firstly, we consider ourselves to be a company with a social conscience.
Like everyone in business, our main focus must be on making a profit so
that we can make a reasonable living. However, we feel that it is important
not to lose sight of the bigger picture. Having been born in a stable
western country, we are in the privileged position of being able to run
a business at all. We live in a country with a developed, dependable infrastructure
and have benefited from being well educated, well fed and from having
lifelong access to a high standard of healthcare. For these things we
are grateful. When we became aware of the children in Tanzania with next
to nothing, the contrast between what we have (and have had) and what
they have, was so great that it was obvious that we should do whatever
we can to help.
Secondly, we have a great deal of confidence in the the charity and its
administrators. You may be aware of the difficulties which may arise when
aid is sent to some countries due to the prevalence of corruption. We
have no such worries when it comes to giving to Faraja Support. Linda
has know Helen Ross for over thirteen years, Morgan has known her for
more than five. We have 100% confidence in Helen and her integrity. When
Helen says that she makes sure that all the money raised goes to the children,
we know that is so. Given that we pride ourselves on our integrity and
decency; we would not dream of risking damaging this by associating ourselves,
never mind inviting our friends and acquaintances to associate themselves,
with any organisation about which we were not wholly confident.
Finally, we like being able to see exactly where the money goes; to be
able to put faces to the recipients of the support; and to see real progress
being made. Faraja Support provides that feedback.
How Morgan Gleave Art & Design plans to contribute
Amongst other things:
We are in the process of designing and building a Faraja Support website.
We are planning to create some greetings cards with a Tanzanian theme
and to contribute a portion of the profits to Faraja Support.
We will donate the entrance fees from all our exhibitions between now
and April 2009 to Faraja Support.
We will donate our graphic design skills free of charge to Faraja Support,
should they require them.
Eventually, Linda and/or Morgan would like to go out to Tanzania and give
direct help.
What you can do to help
Give Morgan or Linda a one off 50p contribution towards Faraja Support
next time you see either of them - you probably won't miss it, but it
will make a significant difference to the children.
Think! Have you any skills to contribute either here or in Tanzania? (There
is an orphanage to be built...) Have you got time to fundraise?
Anything else that you can think of that may be useful!
Please contact Helen Ross
