Morgan Gleave BA (Hons) - Partner Responsible for Creativity

Morgan Gleave has had a passion or art for as long as he can remember.

Born in Leicester in 1969, he attended Fleckney Primary School, Glenfield Junior School, Kibworth High School and The Robert Smyth School in Market Harborough. From school, Morgan studied at Southfields College and De Montfort University.

Morgan has been employed as a graphic designer and illustrator in both the private and public sectors. He has also taught media studies, creative arts, and video and drama. He started his own graphic design company in 2003 in partnership with Linda Chamberlain.

The company was initially called Billygoat Design. However, the business gradually changed to incorporate more of what Morgan calls his ‘proper art’ alongside the commercial design. In August 2007, the name Billygoat Design was changed to Morgan Gleave Art & Design to reflect this development.

Morgan can turn his hand to a broad range of work and styles depending upon the commission. However, left to his own devices his artwork reflects his broad range of interests. Bikes and everything bike related is an interest bordering on an obsession. Reading and creating comics and cartoons runs a close second. Music and film are also important.

Morgan’s artwork also reflects his mores and values. The importance of caring for the environment; an awareness of the spiritual self; a love and respect for animals; and an interest in exploring other cultures are all represented.

Morgan’s favourite style of work is cartoon. However, it is much harder to pinpoint his favourite medium. However, many privately commissioned pieces have been produced in acrylic on either canvas or mount board (JAB 2.1 and One Red Shoe).

Morgan has recently incorporated modern technology such as Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop into his repertoire. These applications enable him to transform simple hand drawn sketches into illustrations with vibrant colours, sophisticated shading and depth (The Good Ship Lady Arabella and Walking the Dog).

Morgan Gleave lives in Fleckney, Leicestershire with his wife, assorted pets and his beloved sketchbook.

Linda Chamberlain LLB (Hons), PG Dip, Cert Ed

Born in Stepney, London, Linda lived in Dagenham, Romford, Basildon, Stanford-Le-Hope, Leicester and Farnham Common before moving to Fleckney, Leicestershire in 2003.

Linda has a background in law and education before establishing Billygoat Design, later Morgan Gleave Art & Design, with Morgan Gleave in 2003.
